Theoretical Orientation

My practice integrates the following evidence-based approaches:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

At their core, these approaches help people change their relationship to painful thoughts, emotions, and past experiences. This builds greater awareness, flexibility, and the ability to respond intentionally rather than reactively. Somatic awareness is an important part of my work, helping clients connect with their body’s signals in ways that support nervous system regulation.

Rather than working from a single model, I integrate approaches based on your needs, goals, and readiness. Depending on what feels most supportive, this may include cognitive restructuring, strategies to increase acceptance of a situation, other skill-building work, trauma processing, or somatic awareness practices.

ACT and CBT often support increased awareness of thought patterns, values, and present-day coping strategies, while EMDR can help process unresolved past experiences that continue to impact the present. Somatic awareness helps the body recognize safety and regulate stress responses. Throughout our work, we move at a pace that feels collaborative and responsive to your needs.

My practice is neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming, with a focus on creating a safe, validating space that respects each client’s individuality, strengths, and lived experience.
